Science is an integrated project that simultaneously answers to two of the challenges of 21st century education: learning science and learning the English language.
For this purpose, we start out by understanding science and health as a human activity, linked to students' culture and their environment, which seeks to understand and explain natural phenomena, to experiment and take responsible decisions, using language as a main resource, specifically English.
Project keys:
1. We start with children's potential to learn and communicate in various languages.
2. We recognize the role of teachers as facilitators for the study of Science and Linguistic communication.
3. We offer the contents of Science in English to exercise listening and to support students' pronunciation.
4. We develop the curriculum of Science, Health and Environment with pedagogical meditation to simplify its learning in English.
5. We offer digital and printed resources, created as platforms for students and teachers.
Pedagogical foundation: CLIL methodology
To support bilingualism, the CLIL methodology (Content and Language Integrated
Learning), also known in Spanish by the acronym AICLE (Aprendizaje integrado de
contenidos y lenguas extranjeras), is emerging.
Five components must be considered for the effectiveness of the CLIL methodology:
1. Contents Include knowledge and procedures of the subject, and guidance in the planning of the learning.
2. The English language Is used to learn Science. At the same time, it is used as an object of learning.
