The medal
THE MEDAL
Throughout his whole life, Eduardo Palomo Pacas has had a very close bond with sport and from very different angles: in his student stage, in his role as a highly competitive athlete and also as a sports leader. As he explains himself, he took an unpaid job as the presidency of the El Salvador Olympic Committee, to rekindle a long-forgotten dream: the hope of winning our first Olympic medal.
In this publication, as intimate as it is didactic, the author emphasizes the effort that must be made from an early age. He ensures that you should start with the youngest, since you cannot think of medals without an adequate structure in school sports and without Physical Education being a compulsory subject and as valued in the school curriculum as mathematics.
Throughout the pages, Eduardo Palomo Pacas describes a series of successful international examples and models that could be adapted to our country. But one thing is clear: victory is not achieved by chance, but as a consequence of years of arduous training, preparation, support, instruction, practice and competition until reaching the goal.
One of the keys to being successful is working together. From the Government to the private company, from the young to the retired, from parents to sponsors. Only then can the process of creating a new mentality begin that will deliver a legacy, not only for the athletes but for all of El Salvador.
